There are so many elements to setting a perfect table. What style would you like, what colour scheme, how high quality would you like your tableware to be, how luxurious would you like your whole setting to be or would you like things a bit more casual but still high quality?
Everyone’s style is different and everyone’s definition of what is a luxury is different too.
Choosing a style is probably the most important decision. I always encourage people to get a wedding or event planner or wedding or event stylist who can guide you on deciding what your style will be and then ensure your style is created.
The style you choose is kind of a definition of who you are, so it is important for you to sit down and take time to decide on important elements you would like.
Luxury style for some people is having high-end brands in everything, for others, luxury style can be something that is so unique and great quality that it is also considered prestigious.
Decide on your main styling elements, particularly how luxurious you want to go and then be consistent throughout your styling. At the same time, the key is to keep it uncomplicated, don’t throw in too many elements that the quality and luxury then get lost.
Another important element to setting the perfect table is ensuring that you have the correct tableware on the table according to the food to be served and also that all your tableware is in the right place, particularly your cutlery.
I’m particularly fussy (or OCD) so table cloths and napkins have to be perfectly pressed. I get out the white gloves to ensure that everything is shiny and clean. Depending on the number of people dining I will also get out the tape measure to ensure the exact space is provided between plates. It all adds to the luxury factor.
Lighting is so important and in my opinion, you can never have too many candles for a special dining experience. The type of candlelight will depend on the style you want to achieve, but candles are a must.
Then, of course, there is a compulsory need for beautiful flowers. Love flowers. The combination of gorgeous tableware and stunning flowers is all you really need. It’s a bonus if you decide to add beautiful stationery like menus and named place setting tags, but this goes back to the style you would like. Beautiful menus and named place settings adds little more luxe to the table.
